Taapsee Pannu : Taapsee Pannu (born 1 August 1987) is an Indian actress who works primarily in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil-language films. Her accolades include a Filmfare Award and she has appeared in Forbes India's Celebrity 100 list since 2018.
Pannu made her acting debut with the 2010 Telugu film Jhummandi Naadam and then starred in the 2011 films Aadukalam, Vastadu Naa Raju and Mr. Perfect. In 2013, she appeared in the Tamil film Arrambam and made her Hindi film debut with the successful comedy Chashme Baddoor.
She went on to star in several commercially successful Hindi films, including the courtroom drama Pink (2016), the war drama The Ghazi Attack (2017), the action comedy Judwaa 2 (2017), the mystery thriller Badla (2019) and the space drama Mission Mangal (2019). For portraying the septuagenarian sharpshooter Prakashi Tomar in the biopic Saand Ki Aankh (2019), she won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress.
Pannu was born on 1 August 1987 in New Delhi.to Dilmohan Singh Pannu and Nirmaljeet. She is of Punjabi descent. She did her schooling at the Mata Jai Kaur Public School in Ashok Vihar, Delhi.
After completing her graduation in Computer Science Engineering from the Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology in New Delhi,she worked as a software engineer.She became a full-time model after she auditioned and was selected for Channel V's talent show Get Gorgeous, which eventually led her to acting. Pannu has appeared in numerous print and television commercials and won several titles during her modelling days, including "Pantaloons Femina Miss Fresh Face" and "Safi Femina Miss Beautiful Skin" at the 2008 Femina Miss India contest.
As a model, she endorsed brands such as Reliance Trends, Red FM 93.5, UniStyle Image, Coca-Cola, Motorola, Pantaloon, PVR Cinemas, Standard Chartered Bank, Dabur, Airtel, Tata Docomo, World Gold Council, Havells and Vardhman. She made her film debut in the 2013 romantic comedy Shuddh Desi Romance, a critical and commercial success, which earned her Film fare Award for Best Female Debut. Later she acted in Aaha Kalyanam (2014), Befikre (2016), and in the action thriller War (2019).
Kapoor's father is a furniture exports entrepreneur and her mother is a teacher-turned marketing executive. She did her schooling from Mata Jai Kaur Public School in Ashok Vihar, Delhi. Later she enrolled in Indira Gandhi National Open University, completing a bachelor's degree in tourism studies, after which she took up an internship with Oberoi Hotels & Resorts in Jaipur and later worked for ITC Hotel. She was signed by the Elite Model Management for modeling projects.
Kapoor later signed a three-film deal with Yash Raj Films. She was selected through an audition to play a supporting role in the romantic comedy Shuddh Desi Romance, alongside Sushant Singh Rajput and Parineeti Chopra. The film dealt with the subject of live-in relationships; it received positive feedback from critics, and Kapoor's portrayal of an outspoken girl, Tara, was praised.

At the 59th Filmfare Awards, Kapoor was awarded with the Best Female Debut award.
Kapoor's next release was the Tamil romantic comedy Aaha Kalyanam, an official remake of the 2010 Hindi film Band Baaja Baaraat. She was cast opposite Nani and learned Tamil and Telugu languages for the film. Upon the release, Kapoor received positive reviews for playing the lead female role. According to the Box Office India, the film was an average-grosser.
In 2016, Kapoor appeared in Aditya Chopra's romantic drama Befikre opposite Ranveer Singh. The film, set in Paris, was released on 9 December 2016. It received negative reviews from critics and became an average grosser at the box office.Shubhra Gupta of The Indian Express described Vaani's role as ''You can see Vaani trying for more in a few scenes, but she appears stymied for the most part. Better fleshed-out, she could have been a truly spunky here-and-now leading lady, changing her own gears on love and life.''
After a three-year break from films, she appeared in 2019's highest-grossing release, War, an action thriller film, alongside Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff. The film was directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Yash Raj Films. War set the record for the highest-opening day collection for a Bollywood film. The film is her most successful film among all her films released so far.
